About the Lessons
The TAKS Tutor Lessons are written using the following lesson
plan format:
1. Objective: The TAKS objective or skill necessary to master
the TAKS objective is listed.
2. Activity: The explanation of how to teach the activity is given.
Suggestions for directed practice and grouping are included.
- Preparation: When appropriate, instructions will be given that
direct teachers on what needs to be done before the lesson.
- Rationale: The reason for teaching the lesson and how the lesson
can strengthen the knowledge and skills that students need to do well on the
TAKS test.
- Input: Directions that tell the teacher what to do and say to
introduce the activity.
- Directed Practice: Teacher guides students through the activity.
- Student Practice: Students work independently or in groups without
help from the teacher.
3. Assessment: The activity is designed to assess students’ understanding of a lesson or an objective.
