3rd Grade (Level A) Reading:  

Includes: Teacher’s Manual, a Set of Transparencies, Student Book.
Benefits: Knowing how to answer TAKS questions will be easier if students read better. Teacher modeling of reading strategies and consistent practice will help students comprehend and connect to all types of literature.
Description:  This resource addresses the four types of reading selections for 3rd Graders on the TAKS test while presenting authentic passages that embody cultural diversity. The selections are 500 to 700 words in length. All selections are titled and include background information.

3rd Grade (Level A) Math:      

Includes: Teacher’s Manual, a Set of Transparencies, Student Practice Book.
Benefits: This resource is designed to provide both the novice and experienced mathematics teacher with teaching tools to assist in preparing students for the TAKS test.
Description:  The Teacher’s Manual includes Teaching Notes that provide a step-by-step guide showing them how to introduce the vocabulary and teach each lesson. The Student Practice Book contains Practice Sheets, Activity Sheets, TAKS formatted problems, and TAKS Sample Tests.

4th Grade (Level B) Reading:  

Includes: Teacher’s Manual, a Set of Transparencies, Student Book.
Benefits: Fourth grade students are expected to make connections across texts. Paired selections give them opportunities to make connections. Functional selections may be integrated within the selections.
Description:  This resource addresses the four types of reading selections for 4th Graders on the TAKS test while presenting authentic passages that embody cultural diversity. The selections are 500 to 700 words in length aligning with the TAKS test guidelines. Paragraphs are numbered. All selections are titled and include background information.

4th Grade (Level B) Writing:  

Contents: Teacher’s Manual, a Set of Transparencies, Student Book.
Benefits: Knowing how to answer TAKS questions will be easier if students are acquainted with the format of the tests. Teacher modeling of writing strategies and consistent practice will help students connect their own experiences to their writing.
Description:  The Written Composition section focuses on purpose or combination of purposes for writing; composition assessment on a 4-point scale, using focused holistic scoring with the rubric to include organization, focus and coherence, idea development, voice, and conventions of English that are grade level appropriate; and evaluation on rule-based and sight words that are within the writing vocabulary of fourth-grade students. The Multiple-Choice section (Revising and Editing) promotes peer and self edit composition-editing practice on a consistent basis and student knowledge of TAKS test terminology. It includes passages for the purpose of revising and editing and allows for multiple objectives testing items in a passage rather than testing only one objective per passage.

5th Grade (Level C) Reading With Science Content:                 

Includes: Teacher’s Manual, a Set of Transparencies, Student Book.
Benefits: Fifth grade students are expected to make connections across texts. Paired selections give them opportunities to make those connections. Functional selections may be integrated within the selections.
Description:  This resource addresses the four types of reading selections for 5th Graders on the TAKS test while presenting authentic passages that embody cultural diversity. The TAKS Tutor program not only enhances student reading skills it also integrates Science Content into the selections. The selections are 600 to 900 words in length aligning with the TAKS test guidelines. Paragraphs are numbered. All selections are titled and include background information.

5th Grade (Level C) Math:      

Includes: Teacher’s Manual, a Set of Transparencies, Student Book.
Benefits: This resource provides a mathematics program that embraces the challenges of the TAKS test by teaching the TEKS in a classroom environment that encourages students to explore, develop, test, discuss and apply mathematics concepts.  Since students learn in many different ways, the program was developed to offer a variety of formats to help teachers make significant instructional decisions. Critical thinking skills are embedded in each lesson along with many opportunities for students to work with partners or in cooperative groups. This helps to alleviate anxiety and develop important social skills.
Description:  The Teacher’s Manual includes Teaching Notes that provide a step-by-step guide showing them how to introduce the vocabulary and teach each lesson. The Student Book contains Independent Practice Sheets, TAKS formatted problems and TAKS Sample Tests.

6th Grade (Level D) Math:     

Includes: Teacher’s Manual, Teacher’s Edition of the Student Book with Answers, Set of Transparencies, Activity Sheets, Student Book.
Benefits: This resource is The TAKS Tutor’s most extensive product. As with all of The TAKS Tutor products, it is designed to provide both the novice and experienced teacher with teaching tools to assist in preparing students for the TAKS test.
Description:  Key components of the Teacher’s Manual include: Teaching Notes, Essential Vocabulary Terms pertaining to the TEKS, Manipulatives for concept development, Transparencies and Teaching Tools. The Student Practice Book offers grade-level TEKS instructional targets, and checks for understanding with TAKS practice questions. Key components of the Student Practice Book include Practice Sheets, Skills Review Sheets, Practice Problems and Sample TAKS Tests.
